MTFR Mutations and Reprogramming Epigenetics
Updated: Dec 20, 2022

Today,
Let's talk about clearing the MTHFR mutation.
Before we begin with MTHFR - I need you to understand something.
MTHFR is an epigenetic mutation that has appeared only in the last roughly 40-50 years on average. There is excellent speculation that it has to do with a synthetic amino acid in RoundUP replacing a natural one in your genetics, and the argument I'm inclined to give merit to.
Epigenetics - are how your genes express themselves due to the environment, your thoughts, your experiences, and even your emotions. Experience the same experience enough times (like your food being poisoned) - and your genes will express this experience as an epigenetic expression. I ask that you draw your attention to the works of Bruce Lipton here - and if you're unfamiliar with him, I encourage you to look him up.
The point first off is - your genes are NOT your destiny. ESPECIALLY not epigenetic ("epi" meaning "above") expressions. They are simply your body displaying a reflection of experiences that your parents, grandparents, and yourself had over a period of time.
Onto MTHFR:
What is MTHFR and what does it have to do with hypothyroidism or the brain? If you are one of the 60 percent of people with a genetic defect in the MTHFR gene, it could affect your ability to successfully manage Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism or brain-based symptoms.
MTHFR is the acronym for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, an enzyme involved in processing folate, or vitamin B9, into a usable form the body can assimilate. It’s also necessary to metabolize folic acid, a synthetic form of folate used in supplements (which the FDA so kindly changed the labeling on vitamins so that one cannot tell the difference between Folic acid and Folate). Vitamin B12 is just one of many, many other compounds and how well your body can use or excrete different substances.
Methylation pathways govern detoxification and many important metabolic processes in the body, which makes a MTHFR defect something worth paying attention to. If you are struggling to manage your Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism or brain-based symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, or depression, you may find the MTHFR test valuable.
Methylation is a process of adding a methyl group to a molecule. Methylation’s roles/jobs include the following:
Turning genes on and off Detoxifying chemicals and toxins from the body Building brain neurotransmitters Metabolizing hormones to maintain hormonal balance Building immune cells Synthesizing DNA and RNA Creating cellular energy Producing a protective coating that sheathes the nerves Metabolizing histamine Supporting eye health Burning fat Supporting liver health
Proper methylation means one can efficiently make proteins, use antioxidants, metabolize hormones, enjoy more balanced brain chemistry, detoxify toxins and heavy metals, and dampen inflammation. All of these factors are vital to managing Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism and brain-based symptoms.
However, if you’re one of the 60 percent of people with a MTHFR genetic defect, you may not be able to properly break down folate in foods or folic acid in supplements.
An inability to properly process folate can raise levels of homocysteine. Homocysteine is an amino acid in the bloodstream that can be dangerous when levels are too high. High homocysteine is linked to an elevated risk of heart disease and Alzheimer’s.
Poor methylation also impacts another vital process — the production of glutathione, the body’s main antioxidant. When we become deficient in glutathione, we lose our natural defenses and are at higher risk of developing autoimmune diseases, food sensitivities, and chemical sensitivities.

An MTHFR defect can also impair the body’s ability to synthesize important brain neurotransmitters, so that brain-based disorders may arise. An MTHFR defect has been linked to depression, anxiety, brain fog, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and even schizophrenia.
Because methylation is involved in so many important processes in the body, an MTHFR gene defect has been associated with many health conditions, including:
Heart attack Stroke Venous thrombosis Cancer Birth defects Inflammatory bowel disease Mental and mood disorders Autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism If you are trying to manage a condition like Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism or brain-based symptoms, it’s imperative that you be able to dampen inflammation and raise glutathione levels. An MTHFR defect can work against you.
Ok, so we've established an MTHFR gene SUCKS.
Guess what - up to about 80% of the population now expresses this mutation as well. So very few people get away from this one....but it also seems to be predominately happening in America above other nations....something an epigeneticist would find fascinating.
Now that we've established what all this IS - let's talk about what to DO about it.
Epigenetic expressions can be turned on, and TURNED OFF. That's right - you can change your epigenetic expressions and SNP's.
What did Jesus say again?
"That which I can do, you can do and more."
Well,
Unfortunately we don't have to have the spiritual capacity of Jesus, but we have other tools around until we get there. Essential oils are just one of a billion ways we can support our bodies - and our epigenetics.
Instructions:
Apply to your feet in the morning: 3-5 drops Frankincense 3-5 drops Copaiba 10-20 drop Orange (you may use much less if desired, for children adjust by weight to adult usage listed here. Remember, faster isn't always better.)
Let's talk about WHY we'd use these oils - and some chemical mechanism. Because it's important you understand a little science behind this, rather than just flat out believe me.
Frankincense (Boswellia Carterii):
Frankincense is great for absolving "sin", or put into another way - repairing DNA. You want normal Frankincense and not Sacred Frankincense due to the enantiomers of Alpha-Pinene. Alpha-Pinene is a chemical found in frankincense and pines predominately - and has the ability to direct affect DNA and it's expression. One of the primary examples is the ability for Alpha-Pinene to bind to and block IKbA - which downregulates the epigenetic expression of NFkB (necrosis factor kappa-beta). NFkB is the master gene that controls your body's signaling of inflammation - and when NFkB is activated - your body starts to produce inflammatory cytokines. In the presence of Alpha-Pinene - the activation of NFkB is blocked through downregulation of IKbA, all thanks to Frankincense.
The point is here, Frankincense has a POWERFUL ability to directly affect genetics, DNA, and epigenetic expressions. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory (NFkB) in the brain, and exceedingly good at protecting the brain, inducing neuroplasticity, as well as improving spirituality and the thoughts surrounding it (it DEFINETLY helps you tune in).
The point of Frankincense is to directly affect the epigenetic expression of MTHFR and correct that malfunction/expression in the body.
Copaiba:
Copaiba with it's primary chemical constituent Beta Caryophyllene - is what is called an "epigenetic super penetrator". This chemical DRASTICALLY changes cell membrane permeability, increases supplement bioavailability, and is also anti-inflammatory. This molecule is found in Black Pepper along with Piperene and Limonene (found in orange oil) and is responsible for the upregulation of compound bioavailability - one example being Tumeric. You can get up to 1000x more bioavailability out of tumeric if you add black pepper extract with it.
The point here is Copaiba opens your cells and epigenetics to CHANGE - hence why it's called an "epigenetic super-penetrator"....it opens your epigenetics up to rapid change.
Orange Oil:
Orange oil primarily is high in a compound called Limonene. Limonene is highly reactive in IL-6 and IL-8 pathways as well as IL-1b - which are inflammatory pathways (6 and 8 specifically surround blood sugar).
Orange oil is extremely high in antioxidants - which are the "electrochemical fuel" for the changes to happen in the body. See, we can signal the body and epigenetics to change with Frankincense and open the epigenetics to change with Copaiba, but you ALSO need the ENERGY to make the changes happen.
Change chews up a LOT of energy - just look at how hard it is to change a habit or change yourself.....now you can imagine how much energy it takes to change epigenetics back to coherence.
Orange oil is like "liquid sunshine" - and carries enormous levels of antioxidant capacity - and boosts a chemical in the body called "Glutathione" drastically. It is also a chemo-static agent, and helps the body alkalize as well. Orange Oil essentially provides the exceptional electrical energy required to "push" the synthetic glycine from your genetics and detox the RoundUP that gets stuck in your body, your DNA, and your collagen (post on this later).
When all 3 oils are paired together you're not only priming your epigenetics for alterations with Copaiba, you're not only giving your genetics the instructions to correct errors with Frankincense, you're also providing the ENERGY to induce change through the Orange oil.
There's probably 10 billion more chemicals in the oils and cascading effects that I don't have time to go into detail here today, but they're also not overly important for the information I'm trying to get across to you regarding MTHFR and what to do about it.
As a final note:
You can use whatever essential oil brand you like. I personally don't care. I don't sell Young Living, but happen to like their oils. Use DoTerra, whatever it is you want to do.
If you're looking for a REALLY good company with high quality oils and fantastic prices - this is the oil company I really like as well. Their selection is OUTRAGEOUS of all the different amazing things they have, as well as all 3 of the oils I mentioned in this post today: https://www.lgbotanicals.com/?AffId=1054 Of final note: When this poison is pushed from your body, and Orange Oil is going to push a LOT of detox - it's important to have a "binder" for your body to push the RoundUp and other toxins to. Humic acid is the PERFECT dumping grounds for carbon based life-forms (like ourselves and pretty much all other life on the planet (save for crystals)) - because it's carbon-based backbone acts like a "magnet" for toxicity that's dumped from the body. Humic Acid has an incredible capacity to attract heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, xenoestrogens and endocrine disrupting chemicals, and even Graphene and Graphene Oxide. When toxicity gets pushed to Humic Acid it strongly binds to it, and doesn't allow for the toxicity to be re-released. Another incredible capacity Humic Acid possesses is the ability to mop up "spike proteins" and viral particles. Once again because of it's carbon back-bone, viral particles get confused between your body and the Humic acid - and the viruses and spike proteins "stick" to the Humic Acid (which they cannot be released from) and are painlessly eliminated from the body. It IS imperative to note - that pretty much every humic acid on the planet except the one I've sourced is an "agricultural grade" that already contains many heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, etc. This is not to say that you CAN'T use other Humic Acids - I'm simply letting you know that they are not pharmaceutical grade like the product that I have sourced. Pharmaceutical grade - means that the Humic Acid goes through a "double extraction" process in which the heavy metals and other toxicity is gently cleaned - leaving an intact, delicate Humic acid ready to accept the toxicity from your body. So far the only Humic acid on the planet that I've encountered is the one that I have sourced that goes through said process and leaves the Humic acid undegraded and intact to its job as nature intended. I have provided an exceptional, pharmaceutical grade Humic Acid in my store that you can pick up here: https://www.iam137.com/product-page/the-humic Also a wonderful resource to read more about MTHFR mutations and how they can negatively impact you, and why cleaning up your epigenetics sooner rather than later is a good idea (especially if you don't want to pass on the mutations to your children) https://mommypotamus.com/mthfr-mutation/
